America’s Over

America’s Over is an experimental cinepoem exploring motherhood, power, silence, displacement, and the human cost of political cruelty.

Told in two interconnected voices, the film begins with “The Journalist,” a witness confronting an America she no longer recognizes, yet still loves. Through the surrealistic imagery of rabbits, coins, fish bones, and rolled dice, the Journalist works to report the story of a mother whose child has been taken from her. The Journalist’s act of witnessing becomes an act of resistance, and she is being pursued because she refuses to remain silent.

In Part II, “The Mother,” the political becomes intimate. Detained, bruised, and separated from her child, the mother moves between physical confinement and a dreamlike inner world of oceans, whales, stars, dead fish, and borderless space. Memory and imagination become temporary refuges from a reality governed by commands, fences, and forced separation.

Blending poetry, silent film aesthetics, performance, and symbolic imagery, “America’s Over” asks what happens when a nation loses its moral bearings, and what it means to refuse to be silent in the face of tyranny.
